I was looking for a video of yoga stretches to help relieve lower back pain. I, like many people experience lower back pain fairly frequently. The video is about 7 minutes long and consists of several stretches designed to reduce pain and build strength. The demonstrator is Sara Lyn Ward. She is a Senior Fitness editor.
Having lower back pain is a life long journey. In my experience, there is no cure. You can avoid the things that create the inflammation and that can help. You can take over the counter pain relievers but that just knocks the edge off. It doesn’t really take the pain away.
What I like about this video is that there is a shorter term benefit as well as a longer term benefit. Shorter term, the stretching exercises help to relieve the pain. Longer term over time, the back muscles become stronger which makes it less likely they will become inflamed.
If you are like me and so many other people that suffer from lower back pain, this may be worth trying.
